The most important thing is usually comfort. Bedrooms don’t get the heavy foot traffic that other rooms get so the underlay doesn’t need to be as hard wearing; instead, it’s where you are most likely to be walking around barefoot, so you want the best underfoot feel possible. This means treating your feet to a soft and springy underlay.
Either a Sponge Rubber or PU Foam will be perfect for a bedroom, it really comes down to personal choice. Sponge Rubber is slightly more comfortable than PU Foam, but PU Foam is slightly more durable. Your feet will be delighted with either. There is nothing quite as sumptuous as Tredaire Colours Red when you walk on it, but if you get the best underlay that you can within your budget then any sponge or foam underlay will do a good job. Tredaire Dreamwalk is also a fantastic underlay.
Perhaps in the children’s room you require something easier to clean and maintain? Laminate flooring is the obvious choice and we have some fantastic underlay for wood and laminate flooring. Silentfloor Gold with its acoustic properties would be perfect or Timbermate Excel would also fit the bill.
